2018 Annual Foul Weather Rifle Match Results – November 23, 2018

With the move of a day from Saturday to Friday, we had a much lower turnout than last year, only six (6) shooters.  However, those chosen few enjoyed moderately warm temperatures and a sunny day.

The high F-Open was M. Ruhlman with a 393-10X.  High and only F-TR was Scott Burr with a 398-17X (also, high F-Class shooter for the day).  High sling shooter (Palma Rifle) was Ray Gross with a 398-22X.

This match was the last outdoor match scheduled for 2018.  As we get closer to New Year’s Eve we will evaluate whether or not to run a New Year’s Eve Shoot.

2018 Winter Mid-Range Prone League Match 1 Results

We had a good turnout for the first Winter Mid-Range Prone league match on March 3, 2018.  Twelve (12) shooters turned out.  The high scorer was F-TR competitor John Roethlisberger with a 397-19X.  The high F-Open was Scott Burr with a 395-20X.  High sling was Chris Whitney with a 399-16X.

It was notable that Chris fired his first 600 yard clean with a legal service rifle in his first stage, a 200-12X.  Good job, Chris!

2017 Annual Foul Weather Rifle Match Results – November 25, 2017

It rained on the way up to the range, and then it cleared.  Then as the last shooters were finishing it rained again.  Thankfully not hard, but enough to get everyone damp.  So the match lived up to its namesake:  Annual Foul Weather.

We had ten (10) shooters, unfortunately only seven (7) turned in score cards.  So the results shows a couple of F-Opens, a few F-TRs and a couple Slings.  The high F-Open was Eric Fabus with a 394-18X.  The high F-TR shooter was Ray Gross with a 398-20X.  Lastly, for the first time in a number of years, the high sling shooter was Leo Cebula with a 399-23X.

This completes our normal outdoor events for 2017.  However, depending on weather we have the potential of running a New Year’s Eve match.  Watch this spot for details.

2017 Winter Mid-Range Prone Match 3 – Results

We had a decent, sunny day for Match 3 of the Winter Mid-Range Prone League. Moreover, we had the best turn-out of the year with ten (10) shooters.

Jake Bondy was the high Target Rifle shooter (sling shooter), with a 398-23X.  John Roethlisberger was the high F-TR shooter with a 397-26X besting John Pierce by three X’s.  It appears everyone is starting to get into practice for 2017.

We did record a couple of concerning photos:

They appear to be of a notable F-TR shooter wearing a shooting jacket, slung up, and firing an Any Rifle.  When we left Midland the competitors were still in shock….  We are withholding his name to protect his reputation.

Winter Mid-Range Prone League Match 1 Results

Frankly, the weather was wonderful.  Just plain wonderful.  You could not believe it was February.  Well, except for the ice:

First time in my life that I wore ice crampons to shoot a rifle match.  Wasn’t necessary on the line, but on the back of the firing mound, it was slippery from the unmelted ice.

For an early winter match we had a fair turn-out:  six shooters.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Then we had some education, between Ray Gross and Bret Solomon.  This revolved around how to deploy a Lab Radar to pick up the velocity of the bullet.   They were successful (which puts ’em ahead of me, I still haven’t got mine working).

No comments on the performance.  Its still the middle of winter in Michigan, and everyone was guessing about loads, and trying to remember to sight with right or left eye…..

2015 Winter Mid-Range Prone League

Note:  The Suburban Mid-Range Prone League starts on Sunday, May 17, 2015.  We are shooting on Sunday to give our competitors an opportunity to shoot on Electronic Targets.  We will have 2 or 3 Silver Mountain Targets operational for the Sunday shoot (3×600).

If you are available come on out and try the targets.  This is likely the wave of the future, and will eliminate trips to the pits, except for set-up and tear down.

Remember that date:  Sunday, May 17, 2015!!

Match 4 – May:  2015 WMRP Match 4

Six shooters on an almost perfect day to shoot.  Of the six of us, only Jake Bondy shot a score worthy of note:  200-15X with his 6XC.  Excellent score no matter what you used.

Match 3 – April:  2015 WMRP Match 3

No particular news (I was out of town).

Match 2 – April:  2015 WMRP Match 2

Outstanding day to shoot.  Relatively gentle breezes, temperatures in the 40’s, sun (quite bright for good sight pictures).  Six shooters enjoyed the day.  Two sling, four F-Class.

Next potential match is Saturday, April 18, 2015.  Watch for an email on Friday the 17th for information.

Match 1 – March:  2015 WMRP Match 1

An interesting day.  The weather man had given up on rain, but when we arrived at the range, there was rain.  Not a lot of rain, but rain nonetheless.  After about a 45 minute delay, we finally got started, and everyone got to try to work the bugs out of their equipment, and themselves.

John Pierce shooting F-TR seemed to make it happen quicker amongst the F-TR shooters posting a 392-13.  Jake Bondy, one of the two sling shooters finished up with another 392, but with only 12 X’s.  For the cool overcast conditions both did well.
