On probably the last time I will be able to wear shorts to a match in Michigan this year, we had ten (10) competitors suffering a foggy morning. It was really foggy, enough that even the F-Open shooters held fire for about five (5) minutes hoping for a clearing.
The visibility notwithstanding, our high F-Open competitor, Cruz Stoneburner cleaned both of his first two (2) strings and finished with a 598-40X. Followed by Dave Strycharz with a 595-36X and Mike Ruhlman with a 595-31X.
F-TR as led by Seth Stoneburner with a 592-25X. Notably, Seth was firing a new .223 Remington.
Only one service rifle and one any rifle shooter today.
Our next match will be on October 5, 2024. That will be the last Suburban Mid-Range Prone league for 2024. Program is: 2024 Suburban Mid-Range Prone League 2
We have posted the preliminary program for the 2024-2025 Snow Country English Match Series. Not all dates have been added, but the three of the four venues from last year have provided their dates. Still waiting on Muskegon, and a potential new site: Blue Water.
Program as of September 10, 2024: 2024-2025 Snow Country English Match Series
On a beautiful August day the Michigan Mid-Range Prone Championship was held at the Midland County Sportsman’s Club. With a record thirty-three (33) competitors the match was a success.
We had sixteen (16) F-Open competitors. Of that number Seth Stoneburner won the F-Open Championship with a 597-36X. He was trailed closely by Mike Facchini with a 596-37X, and Nick Nadenoff with a 596-35X. An individual score of note was Mike Facchini’s 200-18X.
F-TR had eight (8) competitors. Steve Beebe was the winner with a 594-36X. He was chased by Jim Grissom with a 589-23X, and Mike Boughner with a 588-22X.
In the sling arena we had a combination of eight (8) competitors made up of Service Rifle, Palma Rifle and Any Rifle. Jamie Root using a Palma Rifle was winner with a 593-29X, followed by Hanne Brantner with a 591-21X. Third was Gary Duda with an Any Rifle with a 587-19X.
Lastly we had one (1) lonely AR-Tactical shooter, Lance Espinosa who posted a 591-25X.
