It probably wasn't the first official day of fall, but it felt like it. Not cool enough to wear gloves, but cool enough that your rain-coat felt good over a sweatshirt. With a turn-out of eighteen (18) competitors, this year's Championship was the largest Michigan Mid-Range Prone Championship on record. Thanks to the efforts of the Midland County Sportsman's Club, the range was in excellent shape. Unfortunately, someone left the fan on, and we had strong winds all day long, with an occasional sprinkle (just in case you felt that you could leave your rain gear in the trunk). We had ten (10) Any rifle shooters, six (6) F-TR competitors, and two (2) F-Open. The winning Any rifle shooter was almost seventy-three year old Peter Church with a 647-37X. Following him was Raymond Gross with 646-36X, with Taylor Grissom the high Junior with a 631-15X. The high F-TR shooter was Brad Sauve with a 629-18X, with Bret Solomon taking the high F-Open spot with a 639-26X. A preliminary review of National Records shows Taylor setting new Junior records in the 500 yard, metallic sight match with a 149-5X, and the 600 yard metallic sight match with a 148-4X. The next match at Midland will be the last of the 2010 Suburban Mid-Range Prone League matches on October 2, 2010. The program is located at: Mid-Range Prone League. |
